Price Bulk Editor vs Discounty.
Honest disclosure up front: we're not direct competitors. Discounty is a cart-time promo platform — it shows discount prices on the storefront without modifying the underlying product price. Price Bulk Editor changes the price itself. Many merchants run both. This page explains when each fits.

- → You need the product price itself to change (for SEO, ads, feeds, B2B).
- → Your Google Shopping feed needs the discounted price as the canonical price.
- → You need an audit trail of price changes for finance / compliance.
- → You're running B2B price lists or per-market pricing — discount layers won't apply cleanly.
- → You want strikethrough pricing on product pages without touching the actual price.
- → You run customer-segment-specific promos (VIP-only, country-specific, etc.).
- → You need cart-rules: buy-X-get-Y, tiered cart-value discounts, free shipping thresholds.
- → You want to avoid the SEO and ad-feed disruption that price changes can trigger.
What "changing the price" means is different.

| Cart-rule promos (BOGO, tiers) | No — price-level only | Yes |
| Strikethrough on product page | Via compare-at price | Native, configurable |

Many merchants run Price Bulk Editor for sales + Discounty for promos.
The clean split: use Price Bulk Editor for anything that changes the canonical price — seasonal sales, end-of-life pricing, BFCM, wholesale price adjustments, currency repricing. Use Discounty for customer-segment promos (VIP code, newsletter signup discount), cart-rules (BOGO, tiered shipping), and short-burst storefront overlays you don't want bleeding into your ad feeds.
Why split them? Because each surfaces in a different place. Google Shopping reads variant.price; if your BFCM sale is only a Discounty discount, Google sees the un-discounted price and your ads under-perform. Conversely, your "10% off for first-time newsletter subscribers" shouldn't change the price visible to everyone.
The two apps don't conflict — they edit different fields.
Customer-segment targeting and cart-level rules.
Discounty's strength is anything that depends on who is in the cart, not just what. VIP-tier discounts, country-specific promo codes, "buy 3 get 1 free" rules, tiered free-shipping at cart-value thresholds — these are cart-time decisions and we don't try to do them.
They also handle storefront UI well — configurable strikethrough styles, countdown banners, badge overlays — which we deliberately don't ship.
Anywhere the canonical price needs to be the new price.
If your Google Shopping feed, ad creative, B2B price list, or third-party app (Klaviyo abandoned cart, ERP integration, inventory pricing) needs to see the sale price as the actual price — you need an editor, not a discount layer. We're built for that workflow, with the snapshot rollback to make the change reversible.
For finance and compliance, the audit log matters: regulators in some jurisdictions (notably the EU's Omnibus Directive) require a documented price-change history. A discount-application log doesn't satisfy this — they want the canonical price changes.
Different problems, both worth solving.
If you came here looking for sales scheduling with reliable rollback, install Price Bulk Editor free. If you need cart-time promos and customer-segment targeting, Discounty is genuinely good — and you can run both.
